This page emulates the CISCO AIRONET 1200 wireless
access point:
Perform the following:
INITIAL BOOT SCREEN
The initial boot screen gives some important information.

Go into the SETUP mode by press S.

SETTING THE IP ADDRESS AND SUBNET MASK

([Address]), and add the address of 130.10.20.1 |

Select the IP subnet
mask with M ([Mask]), and
add the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 |

Check the updated settings
by going to the Home screen. |
VIEWING AP SETTINGS
The SSID and the IP address of the AP are important.
To view the settings, goto the N (etwork).

Select AP<SPACE>(Radio),
and view the status of the AP, the IP address,
the SSID, the power level, the operational
rate (1Mbps, 2Mbps, 5.5Mbps, 11Mbps or AUTO). |
CHANGING AP SETTINGS
The SSID and the IP address of the AP can be changed
by select Ho(me), and the AP
(Radio), then:

Select Set<SPACE>(Properties). |

Select Ser(vice Set ID)
and network enter the SSID of fred. |

Go back to Ho(me),
and select AP<SPACE>(),
and view the SSID. |
After these settings the parameters should be:

EXPRESS SETUP
One of the best ways to configure the AP is to
use the Express Setup from the Setup screen.

Use the express setup to setup
the following:
A. IP address of 140.10.11.12.
B. Subnet mask of 255.255.255.192.
C. SSID of MyNetwork.
D. Set the gateway address of 140.10.11.1.
E. Set the name of the Wireless Access Point
to Fred's Wireless. Go to
other screens, and make sure that the name
of the access point has changed. |
SETTING THE WEP KEY
It is important to implement strong security with
wireless networks, thus the WEP key should be set
as soon as possible. To do this go to the Ho(me)
screen.

Select the AP (radio),
and then select Set (Properties) |

Next select W(EP), and
the WEP encryption page should be displayed.

Next select EK1(EP),
and enter the name of the key (such as Fred).
This key should be set on all the clients. |
SETTING THE CHANNEL
In the UK there are 13 channels available to use.
The default is typically channel 7. All the clients
must be set to the same channel as the AP. To set
the channel, goto the Ho(me) page:

Select the AP (radio),
and then select Set (Properties) |

Next select Ch(annel),
and the change the channel to 6. |

IP address: 140.10.11.12
Gateway: 140.10.11.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
SSID: mynetwork
Name of device: fred
WEP key: fredkey
