The School of Computer at Napier has a strong background in networking and distributed systems. They have one of the most advanced regional Cisco Academy in Europe, and now runs an MSc in Advanced Networks. This is the home page of the nos@napier module. It will run again
in September 2002. An important part of the module is the ability
to register onto it. So if you are taking this module make sure
that you register, and you will be kept up-to-date on its development.
There is also a new WAP system which provides text-based updated.
An
important concept in networking and the Internet is the client/server
architecture, thus I've developed a few programs which allows client/server
systems to be investigated. The module investigate implementations
of TCP/IP sockets, especially using Visual Basic. Another important
element is the investigation of session layer protocols, such as
HTTP, FTP and SMTP. The main code links are:
