Distributed Systems and Mobile Agents Research Group

The School of Computing has just set-up a research group in Distributed Systems and Mobile Agents. It main aims are to promote research in networking, distributed systems, distributed technologies, and agent technology.

Research group highlights

AGENT RESEARCH
Agent-based, distributed security system
Mobile Agents in Network Applications
Agent-based Fault Diagnostics
GENERAL NETWORKING
Gigabit Ethernet
Programmable Router
REUSEABLE COMPONENTS FOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS
Generic framework
Reuse in embedded systems
ENCRYPTION
RSA Method

Research group objectives

To investigate enhancements to, and new applications of, distributed agent-based systems, especially related to network security, enhanced distribution of information, user profiling, and user/system authentication.
To enhance distributed protocols and information content by researching into component-based, reusable elements, which should result in easily reconfigurable, and reuseable distributed systems.
To research into novel methods which integrate computing devices with the Internet.
To enhance the external activities of the group through conference activities, publishing, MPhil/PhD examinations, and peer review processes.
These objectives integrate well with the existing groups within the School, and generally focus on the infrastructure and distribution of resources around networks.

Research group benchmarks:
5 MPhil/PhD completions.
7 MPhil/PhD examinations.
18 Journal papers.
23 Conference papers.
4 DTI-funded KTP programmes.
4 Academic staff, and 8 Research students.
IEEE Conference Programme Organiser.
International recognized academic publications.
